How do I turn my mobile/tablet into a BackHug handset (controller)?

Your location can provide a dedicated handset (mobile or tablet) next to the BackHug device to enhance user experience. This handset acts as a convenient controller, allowing you to easily manage your BackHug sessions.

For BackHug Partners (Hosts): Turning Your Device into a Handset

As a BackHug partner, you can transform any mobile device or tablet into a dedicated handset (controller) for your BackHug device. It could be your personal phone (or tablet) or one you acquire for your location specifically to operate your BackHug.

This will enable you to offer a dedicated handset (mobile or tablet) next to the BackHug device in your location to enhance user experience.

The dedicated handset is like having in-built buttons and a screen on the BackHug, allowing you to operate it like a conventional electrical device (such as a microwave).

This allows your users to start a session with the handset right away, without having to take the time or effort to download and register the app on their own device. 

How to Enable Handset Mode:

  1. Log in to the BackHug User App: Open the BackHug user app and log in using your partner/admin account credentials.
  2. Access the "More" Options: Tap on the “More” button in the app's footer (bottom right corner)
  3. Select "Switch to Handset Mode": From the available options, choose "Switch to Handset Mode." (this option is only visible if you logged in with your admin account)

  4. Pair Your Device: Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your device with the BackHug device.

  5. Your Device is Now a Dedicated Handset: Once paired, your device will allow users to start sessions or check-in for bookings (as if the BackHug had in-built buttons and a screen).

What Can You Do with the Handset:?

The handset's functionality varies depending on the setup of the location:

    • Free of charge or locations that don't allow bookings:

      • If the location offers free BackHug sessions or doesn't allow pre-booking, you can use the handset to immediately start a session. Simply follow the on-screen instructions to begin your BackHug experience.
    • Paid Locations:
      Handset  Free-of-charge location  2) Time for Start Now session BEFORE upcoming booked session ONLY limited durations
      • If the location requires payment, the handset will primarily be used for check-in. When you arrive for your scheduled session, use the handset to check-in for your booking and start the session on the BackHug device.
