# What are BackHug minutes and how to use them

## Minutes are the currency you use to book BackHug sessions. Each user must have sufficient minutes in their account to book a session. For instance, a 20-minute session requires 20 available minutes in the user's account.

### Two types of minutes

  

#### 1. One-Off Minutes

One-Off minutes become immediately available in the user's account and don't expire until they're used.

**One-Off minutes can be used**:

- To purchase a bulk of minutes upfront
- To provide complimentary trial minutes
- For one-off promotional offers

#### 2. Recurring Minutes

These are ongoing subscriptions that automatically top up to a user's account. They expire at the end of the billing cycle.

**For recurring minutes, you'll need to specify**:

- Start date of the subscription
- Recurrence period (choose from Daily, Weekly, or Monthly)
- Number of minutes to be added to each period

 This option is typically used for users who have paid for an ongoing BackHug subscription.  
   
Users can also book sessions directly through their mobile app using their preferred payment method, such as a credit card.
