All you need to know about BackHug WiFi connection

Connecting your BackHug device to WiFi ensures optimal performance, remote maintenance, and seamless updates.

 

We highly recommend connecting your BackHug device to a WiFi network. This allows for:

  • Performance Monitoring and Maintenance: WiFi enables us to monitor and maintain the device's performance.
  • Remote Firmware Updates: Your device can receive the latest updates automatically.

If there's an issue with your BackHug device, a WiFi connection allows us to perform a remote diagnostic test. Most issues can be resolved immediately without needing an onsite visit.

How to Connect BackHug to WiFi

Follow these steps to connect your BackHug device to WiFi using the BackHug App:

  1. Power On: Ensure your BackHug device is plugged in and switched on.
  2. Open the App: Open the BackHug app on your phone.
  3. Navigate to Settings: Click "More," then select "Configure WiFi."
  4. Connect via Bluetooth: The app will search for your BackHug device via Bluetooth. Once found, select "Configure."
  5. Choose Configuration Method: You will have two options:
    • Network Name and Password: Enter your WiFi network name and password.
    • WPS Button: Press the WPS button on your WiFi router within 2 minutes.

Is BackHug Safe to Connect to My Company’s WiFi?

You can trust BackHug to be safe for your company's WiFi network because:

  • Data Encryption: All data transferred between BackHug devices and the internet is encrypted.
  • Device Security: BackHug devices are encrypted, preventing unauthorized access even with physical access to the device.

Restrictions When Configuring to WiFi on Business Networks

Please note that the BackHug device can only connect to traditional Wi-Fi networks, which use a single password for access (Pre-Shared Key or WPA/WPA2-Personal networks). It cannot be configured to connect to more secure enterprise Wi-Fi networks that require both a password and a second method of authentication, such as WPA/WPA2-Enterprise or WPA3-Enterprise networks.

What If I Can't Configure My Device to WiFi?

If you can't configure your BackHug device to WiFi, there's no need to worry:

  • Firmware Updates via Mobile App: Your device can still receive firmware updates through the BackHug app.
  • Easy Update Process: When an update is required, the app will prompt you and provide instructions to update via mobile.

This approach ensures that your BackHug device remains functional and up-to-date, even without a WiFi connection.
